Weyermann Liquid Malt Extract Mixing Instructions for Beer and Yeast Starters Weyermann Liquid Malt Extract (LME) is a pure, adjunct-free, unhopped extract made in our own brewery exclusively from genuine Weyermann base and specialty malts. Weyermann LME has amalt concentration of 72 . 79%, which makes it ideally suited for both home-brewed and craft-brewed beers, as well as for yeast starters. Its undiluted gravity value is approximately 72. 79°Plato. We ship our LME in sterile plastic jerry cans of 4 kg. It has a shelf life of 12 months if stored cool. 

Mix Weyermann LME using the table below. Note that values apply to all LME varieties. First, select the desired wort gravity in one of the two left columns. Then, from the corresponding row, calculate the required amount of Weyermann LME malt extract for the desired wort volume by using the value in metric or English units that is appropriate for your system.

Add bittering hops at the beginning of the boil and measure wort gravity at the end of the boil. To compensate for insufficient or excessive evaporation losses, extend the boil or liquor down the wort.

 To produce a beer with an original gravity / extract of 12.5 dilute 1 part of extract with 5.1 parts of brew water. 

 An other way to calculate (right column):

 To produce 100 liters of beer with an original gravity / extract of 13 % plato, you would require 17.1 kg of Weyermann  Malt Extract.
